MC Hawking - A Brief History of Rhyme
One day in 1988 Stephen Hawking, professor at Cambridge University and noted astrophysicist, found himself at a Beastie Boys concert at the student center. Captivated by the pounding rythms and twisting rhymes Hawking became obsessed with rap music and discovered his favorite was Gansta Rap produced by groups like NWA and GhettoBoyz. One EP and two LPs later and MC Hawking is a legend. MC Hawking is joined by DJ Doomsday and Professor Puff ‘n Stuff both grad students.
A Brief History of Rhyme is MC Hawking’s best of album. Now you too can know the depths of MC Hawking’s mad skillz.
The disk starts with “The Hawkman Cometh” where you learn that “The Hawkman cometh and I’m bringing hell with me” and that he’s not down with those M.I.T. grads (more on this later).
“The Hawkman Cometh” is followed by MC Hawking laying it down straight ’bout your momma. In this track we learn “you could stick her face in dough and make monster cookies” among other things. Mad style.
In “Big Bizang” the MC learns us some history of the universe. Here we get a glimpse of Hawking’s view on religious topics when he says “say it tooks even days you’re as mad as a hatter, it was millions of year ‘fore the first star glowed”
“Entropy” is a number done to the tune of Naughty By Nature’s OPP. “You down with entropy? Yea, you know me!” Here we learn “Creationists always try to use the second law, to disprove evolution, but their theory has a flaw. Only in a closed system must the entropy count rise. The earth’s not a closed system, it’s powered by the sun” There’s those Creationists again.
Later in the disk we get to the heart of a matter we’ve been dealing with early in the disk. The track “Fuck the Creationists” just gets to the point.
In “All My Shootin’s Be Drivebys” we discover that Cambridge in England isn’t too fond of Cambridge in Massachusetts. “Beneath the glow of an old street light, dead MIT punks be the only sight.”
“UFT For the MC” is a return to science and is done to the tune of “Anarchy in the UK.” The MC wants a Unified Field Theory.
Apparently Stephen Hawking takes the music as intended, as a joke. 10% of the profits from the CD go to a charity of Stephen Hawking’s choice so don’t just download it bitch. MC Hawking will pop a cap in your ass. Five stars, buy now.
